Farm History
The grain and livestock farming operation of Blaine and Dwight Shoemaker was ex-panded 15 years ago with the addition of a high quality registered Angus herd which was named Angus Acres. It was the objective of the new Angus herd to produce cattle that could turn grain and roughage into high quality beef. This was done with the best available tech-nology and the selection of leading Angus A.I. sires to produce seed stock for economically high quality beef demanded by today’s consumer.

Recently Ryan Farms have joined the farming and Angus cattle operation to help achieve the production and marketing goals for Angus Acres. Today’s cow herd is sired by many of the leading A.I. sires and have EPD’s in the top 5 to 10 percent of the Angus breed. Each year the cow herd is bred to the top A.I. sires in the Angus breed which has resulted in the cow herd pedigrees having several generations of leading sires in the Angus breed.

Cattle are marketed yearly by private treaty and various consignment sales. Visitors and inquirers concerning the cattle and Angus Acres is welcomed.

Upcoming Events

On Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 1:00 p.m., Angus Acres will hold its annual Angus bull sale at the Ericson-Spalding Livestock Market in Ericson, Nebraska. The sale offering will consist of high quality Angus yearling bulls sired by leading A.I. Angus sires. Some of the sires represented in the sale will be SAV Bismarck 5682, Gardens Prime Star, Sydgen CC&7, GAR Predestined and 21AR Roundup 7005.
